What type of movie is AYAN ???

We cannot categorize this movie in to Class movie or Masala movie . We can say it has been tried to make it as an Entertaining movie . The Core of Ayan has the entertaining elements , exploring the ‘unseen smuggling world’. Most part of the movie sticks to the logic. Very very few instances it takes the masala movie elements . For this storyline , there were lot of oppurtunities for the Director to make it a Pakka Masala Entertainment Movie , but he DIDN’T take that PATH. This Movie DIDN’T definitely project SURIYA as a ‘Mass Hero’.

I am strongly against to few of my friend’s comment on AYAN that it is typically a ‘Vijay masala movie’ .. The reasons it is not , are Herovukku oru masala introduction kadayaadhu , Herovukku punch dialogue kedayaadhu , Oru kuthu song keadayaadhu ,Vijay padathula irukkura maathiri group groupaa villaingalum kedayaadhu , periya Casting Villainum kedayaadhu. vijay padathula sarakku irukkoo illayooo , logic irukkoo illayooo , indhaa masala elements kandippa irukkum .. aana indha padathula sarakku irukku , logic irukkuu masala thaan romba kammi.

Overall its an Entertainment movie with some interesting sequences , with very less masala , very weak characterisation . So I can say AYAN as,a NOT BAD, WATCHABLE movie.

SURIYA in AYAN:

Surya is just a Hero of the story , a character in the screenplay .He had done his job GOOD.

But what I feel as his Fan is , Doing just good is NOT enough , to win in this Tough competitive race. He should develop the intelligence of driving his Unique Career path, rather than relying on just the Director. This movie had lot of opportunities for projecting himself with Big Heroism, but he didn’t demand those things from Director. A Maddy kinda Bg song or a Billa kinda Bg music cud have given BIG HEROIC image for the CHARACTER as well as SURIYAA. He cannot demand these things in movies like Vaaranam Aayiram .These bgm’s wouldn’t have definitely spoiled the mood of the movie , rather they would added more weightage to the Heroism and to the movie.

Suriya have definitely tasted success with AYAN , but in my view he MISSED the chance of tasting a MASSIVE HUMUNGOUS Success.

Why its not SO GOOD ???

Apart from this entertaining smuggling elements , the movie doesn’t carry anything in depth . The Overall Characterisation is weak .Villain is the BIGGEST Mistake of this movie .
Having decided to make an entertainment movie , adding masala in some optimal level cud have helped more for the entertainment .Songs placement is something a big problem in most of the movies , so I cannot take it as a reason. Even Polladhavan , Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu had the same mistake. so I took it as a compromise …

Why its NOT BAD movie ???

The movie engages you with ’something NEW to Tamil movie’ elements (blood diamond, Catch me If you can inspiration) , doen’t have a lengthy separate senti track , doesn’t have a lengthy flashback , tried to fit in to the logic most of the times .. Its definitely not a Vijay/Ajith movie. Its a Suriya movie , but Not BIG SURIYA movie , just director’s Suriya movie.

My wish is that Suriya should develop more confidence in creating a Fan base in B and C centres without following Vijay/Ajith routes. AYAN kinda movies are big oppurtunities for this . There is no doubt that Suriya can act whatever Director wants.

Suriya should try to experiment with different Tamil accents in these kinda movies. In short Suriya should take the foot steps of Kamal. Surely , he will not loose his identity.
